Speech Therapy in Chandler, Glendale & Mesa, AZ
Helping Clients Communicate with Confidence
Communication is part of nearly everything we do, from expressing our needs and answering questions to building relationships and sharing our thoughts. When communicating is challenging, speech therapy can help individuals develop the skills they need to connect with the people around them.
At Arbor Therapy, our speech-language pathologists provide individualized speech therapy for clients from birth through age 30, based on their current communication skills and personal goals.
What Is Speech Therapy?
Speech therapy helps clients develop the skills they use to communicate and interact with others.
Speech is how we produce sounds and words. Speech therapy supports pronouncing sounds more clearly, speaking more fluently, or using your voice effectively.
Language is how we understand and use words to communicate. This includes understanding what other people say, putting words together into sentences, expressing thoughts and needs, and using language during conversations and social interactions.
Speech therapy can support individuals with a variety of needs, including speech or language delays, articulation or fluency disorders, and communication differences related to autism or other developmental conditions.
Signs Someone Might Benefit from Speech Therapy
Consider talking with a speech-language pathologist if you or someone you care for:
- Is not meeting expected speech or language milestones
- Is difficult for others to understand
- Has trouble following directions or understanding questions
- Uses fewer words or shorter sentences than expected
- Has difficulty expressing their wants, needs, or ideas
- Repeats sounds or words or has difficulty speaking fluently
- Has trouble starting or maintaining conversations
- Uses few or no spoken words to communicate
Our Approach to Speech Therapy
Everyone communicates differently, so their therapy should look different, too. We start by getting to know each client, their current skills, and the areas where they need additional support.
Treatment is individualized around each client’s goals and can include play, conversation, games, movement, and other activities that keep them involved while giving them opportunities to practice new skills. We also work with caregivers so you understand what is being learned and how you can encourage communication during everyday routines at home.
When clients receive other services at Arbor Therapy, our speech-language pathologists can collaborate with their occupational or physical therapist to provide more coordinated care. Teletherapy services are also available when appropriate.
What Skills Can Speech Therapy Address?
